“My great, great, grandparents lived on this farm. This is where my grandfather was born and lived”

- Alton G. Miller (Grandfather 1904-1998)

I grew up on this same farm and spent the summers as a boy harvesting crops and tending to cattle. After 40 years in corporate America, I’m returning to the farm to grow and share “the queen of flowers” the PEONY.

  • Bart D. Miller - founder of Peony Springs Farm

“Peony Springs has been in our family since 1859, Louis and Sarah’s pioneer rock house still stands on the farm. Our family of farmers pay close attention to quality and service. You buy directly from the farmer, so you get the freshest, best quality peonies available. ”

Our Natural Spring Water carries nutrient-rich minerals to the soil and each individual Peony with each watering.  Peonies love to quench their thirst using well water because it contains essential nutrients for optimal growth and in our plants.

Picked with care

When the peonies have reached the perfect state of maturity, they are hand-cut by workers who look for proper stem length and bud opening, then select them one by one. Immediately after being cut, workers begin the post-harvest process, working in refrigerated rooms where the temperature is lowered to approximately 33 - 34 degrees where excess foliage is meticulously removed to prepare the flowers for shipping. At this temperature the stems remain in a dormant condition, to help maintain the proper tension within each peony to maximize the timing and degree of blooming. Peonies are graded, sorted, bundled, then hydrated and prepared for their journey to you
